We are homesteaders committed to creating and sharing harmonious existence. Fellow travelers ourselves, we value enhancing the experience of others whether in retreat or on adventure.
We moved here full time in 2012 after years of visiting and being attracted to what the Big Island has to offer. Strongest was our draw to Lower Puna, where we could live in the most natural of surroundings. Since our transition we have been building, cultivating and molding our land into an off grid jungle retreat. We encountered challenges along the way, especially since our passion was so much stronger than our skill set. Kiko had spent the last 14 years as a hospital nurse and I, Ziggy, had been working in the food and entertainment industries and building wind turbines in the midwest. Neither of us had any practical building experience or grew much more than tomatoes in our garden.
It's amazing the fruit that determination can yield! With our vision to motivate us, we moved forward and learned hands on how to build structure and then to turn it into home. We managed to build our house and several guests houses that we can use to welcome visitors. Our goal is to tune in with mother nature and, ever gratefully, nurture the gifts provided from Earth. For that reason we whole heartedly threw ourselves toward the task of self sufficiency. We collect rain water into a catchment to filter and use. We harness power from the sun for use as clean energy. We grow and collect our food in nature. Gratefully, our family has grown over the last few years. We share our land with dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, goats, and even a human child!
There is so much beauty here in Puna and the Big Island as a whole. We love to share recommendations and help with itineraries in order to help make the most of your time with us.
